Chapter One: Introduction

1.1 Background of the Study
Sensationalism has become a defining characteristic of modern journalism, often prioritizing eye-catching headlines and exaggerated narratives over factual reporting. In Kano Municipal LGA, Kano State, the rise of sensationalist practices has sparked debates about their impact on media credibility and public trust. While sensationalism can attract audiences and boost ratings, it risks undermining journalistic integrity and distorting public perception.

Media credibility is critical for maintaining public trust and fostering an informed society.
